My daughter may be starting to have some memories

Very subtle ones though. I will tell you what happened. Yesterday she had her day off at school as once a month the school closes on a weekday (usually Friday or Monday) for what they call a PA day... which means they have their so-called conferences (I think these teachers have more like a day off too but.. that is besides the point). Anyway she had no school and since her friends were busy, I decided to take her out to a movie and for lunch. I was shocked to see "Toy Story 3" playing as she wanted to see it and did not have a chance to do so this past summer.

So I took her, and there was a part in the beginning of the movie where they ... I kid you not had a cattle car with those trolls.. you know the ones that were popular in the 80's all huddled together very anxious and upset.. and my 8 year old daughter grabbed my hand in fear!!! I was SHOCKED that they had that in a kid's movie but they did and she is starting to know that she was there in her last life. Why else would she grab my hand out of fear like that? She is starting to know obviously and I asked her later on why she grabbed my hand when she saw the train. She nervously said she did not know and did not want to talk about it anymore. I let it go, but things are popping up. There were other very dingy scenes in that movie that I would not say brought back memories for me.. but were making me uncomfortable like the darkness and the toys ending up in the garbage dump, about to be incinerated and the way the flames were going it was making me very uneasy... it looked the same way as it did in the crematoria. I did not expect this from a child's movie but anything is possible. That freaks me out that they would add a cattle car scene with the trolls huddled together in the train all anxious with their arms flailing and all... thankfully she did not have any nightmares later on... it is coming together for her, the memories that is

They had that scene with the train in Toy Story 3? I am surprised. What kind of kids' movie would show that? My middle daughter is too old now for that kind of film. Nonetheless thank you for sharing this. If my youngest who is the same age as your daughter watches this, I'll be sure my middle one does not walk in the room during that scene as it may disturb her. She wanted to see it too and by the time we get around to it, it's going to be available on DVD.

Who wanted to watch it, you youngest? She is the same age more or less as my oldest... though my daughter is 6 months older.. as time goes on then who cares lol. But YES they had that part! I could not believe it in a kids movie. She literally grabbed my hand out of fear... if memories were not starting to come, consciously or not, then I have no idea why she did that! She was not like that during other times of the movie though.. even during the other dingy parts as well as the part with the flame!!

The trains were scary, that is probably why she reacted...the feeling of not knowing and everyone around you being terrified...

I told you that this was probably starting to happen, love. Just keep the lines of communication open with her for when she feels that she is ready to start talking about it with you. It's probably all still very confusing for her right now. She most likely hasn't even made any actual connection to the Holocaust in particular...she is just remembering very scary instances right now probably.

The good thing in all of this is that she didn't react similarly to the scene that you described being similar to the crematoria. So she seems to be remembering the beginning of things (being rounded up) & not the later things as of yet..hopefully those memories will wait until she is older to emerge. And remember...previously she recalled yourself as a child in that lifetime. So she may well have already remembered quite a bit from that lifetime - just stuff from before the war.

I know Laurasia, you are right Nothing I can do about it... but I also know she is getting a real kick at watching Hitler parodies and I am letting her do so... I think her watching these parodies may serve a buffer to her, to lessen somewhat the shock of the horrible memories that will be coming... Again though, why would they put a scene like that in a kid's movie? That is what I don't get.

Well this is interesting. A few days ago, my daughter was misbehaving, so I told her to go to her room.. she resisted of course but finally she did and shut her door. She was in her room doing her "plays"... so after some time I put my ear by the door to see if I could hear anything. What I heard was bizarre. She was doing a "play" about telling her "kids" (stuffed animals) that they needed to learn Hebrew after school, and that they were going to start speaking it and practicing it at home. We don't do any of that at home! So why would she doing a play about speaking Hebrew? I know they spoke Yiddish but I am sure Hebrew was commonly used too. I gotta say this must have been some memories.. before the war is starting to come through.. and I bet when she is in her room it happens more. I wonder what else she has done her "plays" about in her room.. while I was not around?

It honestly could be that she's taking her Hebrew lessons a little too seriously, but it is a strange thing to do!

How are you! LOL j/k... well it could be.. I don't want to start reading into too much either, but I just sense things are starting to come to her.

If she herself is taking Hebrew lessons I wouldn't think too much about it. As Luna mentioned she is probably just mimicking her Hebrew teacher.

LOL yeah maybe... like I said I could be reading into this too much.. like my radar is picking everything up on this since I am already pretty much knowing she is remembering things here and there.
