It's hard not to notice the generation gap, I could be father or grandfather to most of the participants in these types of groups. To me, this seems quite ironic. The biggest explosion in New Age knowledge happened before most of your were born. I refer of course to the Vietnam era, hippy era, Age of Aquarius and whatever else history will get around to calling it. So, why? Of all those millions of people expanding their consciousness, why did so few figure it out? I really only see three possibilities: 1. perhaps it was such an unpopular thing to do, reincarnating early afterwards, that maybe few people did it; and/or 2. the younger generation may well be more capable in their methodology; and/or 3. absence of the internet may have proved a significant impediment. (this last seems a bit weak to me, as I had figured this stuff out long before the internet was invented. The modern day communications have really only added a few "bells and whistles".) Any and all speculation on this topic would be interesting to see.
As an aside, I'm the only person I know who didn't do LSD in those days, not wanting to see a whole lot of well ah . . . Still, that cuts two ways. A person who would have seen such images would probably discredit it as simply being a "bad trip". Oh well.

That's a really good question, McCoy. I didn't really notice that before you mentioned it.
The internet is a big deal concerning this topic, in my opinion. I started remembering past life memories before the internet was widespread (we didn't have it in our house). However, with the internet, younger people have so much access to information, a lot more than we did than we were younger, so these spiritual ideas seem to seep into the younger generations. That's my best guess, haha!

I don't think the lack of internet is a weak option at all.
There's a huge difference between "I'm having these thoughts and feelings but my culture would probably shun me if I mentioned them" and "I'm having these thoughts and feelings but my culture would probably shun me if I mentioned them, but wait! Here's an entire group of people who are having these same experiences!" That is what the internet offers--not necessarily knowledge, but a community to even talk about these things in.
I think many, if not most of us, came to our realization about our reincarnating outside of the internet. But I'd say the internet has been a big part in helping many to explore their past lives, discuss them, find resources and information, etc. This alone has to have had a huge impact on our being able to explore this topic at large rather than just as individuals.
Anyway, I can't say about the generational gap. I think it's pretty interesting how there was, for a time, a period of philosophical and spiritual exploration that ended in...war, corporate dominance, monoculturalism, and all the other things that those very same people were trying to get away from. My only guess was that somewhere along the way, the knowledge they were being offered didn't take. Maybe they decided the dominate worldview was more comfortable after all. That sounds a bit cynical, but I do wonder why. On the other hand, many of them came to this knowledge by way of drugs, and learning it that way is not quite the same. As one is not in control, it's easier to, as you say, dismiss what is uncomfortable as simply being a "bad trip" and fail to take away any true meaning from it. And then, one day, you realize that it's time to put the drugs away and get a real job.
Maybe this time the "movement" in regards to this knowledge and understanding will be genuine.
I know of some people who were genuinely moved and changed by that time period, so I don't want to imply that every person in that movement was disingenuous and that they eventually abandoned it. I'm talking about the culture of that era rather than individuals.
