If you're looking for comic relief, along the lines of WW2 stuff, here's an idea if you know about the net better than I do. There was a TV comedy series decades ago "Hogan's Heroes", set in the mythical Stalag 13. I'm not sure if reruns of this could be found, but if so, it might be fun to watch a few. And jokes aside, it certainly does make some serious points, ie how very much in fear of the Russian Front the guards were, and what lengths they would go to avoid the threat of this. Or how very much in fear of the Gestapo the camp Kommandant was. And so forth.

Yes there are lots of old episodes on Youtube. Here is a funny Mel Brooks Third Reich 80's rap from the flick "To Be or Not to Be"...great movie too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu2NqfISm9k

I know!! You are missing so much HEY can you take time during your time off to the library and watch these videos on lower volume? Just an idea! And another idea, this may be less of a financial issue since you are working now.. but have you considered getting a new computer (many are quite inexpensive, my suggestion is a netbook.. they are GREAT!! and under $300..) the only drawback is with that is you cannot use DVD's or CD's in it.. a regular laptop is more costly that has that feature but I am fine with my netbook. PC's are becoming extinct. Also, you will need cable internet BUT you can get an ultralite, like the lowest form which is fast enough to use youtube and get facebook and other stuff, but it's just limiting when it comes to actually downloading things too often. If you feel you are not ready to change that and invest in that yet.. you can always go to libraries that have PC's, youtube will work there and keep the volume low

I am going to have to find some time to watch that. Have you seen the Donald Duck 1943 movie, featuring that song from Spike Jones "In Der Fuhrer's Face"? There was an old Bugs Bunny episode which made fun of Goering. Quite funny.

Oh yeah I have seen those too... Spike Jones was great.. and I saw that Bugs Bunny one too with Goering.. the one where he wanted to go to Las Vegas and ended up in Nazi Germany? Daffy duck had some good ones too I think.

I know that I need to get a new system (hey at least my computer monitor is only a few years old LOL!), but it's still not happening anytime soon. I have to replace my television right now as it is. And connecting is an issue due to how rurally I live....my only way of connecting is via dial-up. We're not able to get cable out here because the cable company doesn't come this far. (Though connecting via sattelite through Hughesnet is obviously possible, but I am NOT paying $70 a month just to hook up to the internet.) So no wireless connection, no cable connection, & no sattelite connection. So unless whatever I do eventually buy can connect the old-fashioned way, via the phone line, I'm stuck with what I have.
I am a pain to fellow travellers when I go on vacation though (which Miss Bothmann & I will be doing this Sunday) because I spend so much time at the lobby computer accessing things that I can't at home. LOL!
Sincerely, Laurasia

Laurasia, my Mom is in the same type of rural without cable situation, so she bought a wireless card from Sprint, which works like one someone would plug into a laptop to get internet access. Easy setup, and about $50.00 a month.

Well that's certainly a thought, thanks Luna. Hey, does it work with a PC or only a laptop?
Sincerely, Laurasia

It works with both, actually! I believe that it plugs into the USB plug. Oh! You should also looking into a personal WiFi hotspot, while you're at it, as that is usually available through cellular networks, too.

Luna are you talking about those rocket sticks? My brother has one and pays I think actually less than $40 for it.. one of those things to shop around for. But you unfortunately will need a newer computer (you don't have to get the newest and I am sure there are some good used ones that will fit your budget easily) or you can look into sales (which may be now since it's all back to school) or Christmas sales, OR boxing day sales if you get that as we do here.

I'm not sure what a rocket stick is, but it may be what I'm talking about. It was...either 2007 or 2008 when my Mom bought her card, so the prices might be lower now. As for the computer needing to be new, I have no idea.

It's the wireless stick, some plans are better than others!
