Hey guys.
You know how sometimes it's just good to vent? This is one of those times. After my wrist pretty much continuously hurting for about a month I went to the doctor & found out that I have a doosie of a case of carpal tunnel syndrome...in my dominant hand, of course. So writing is now all but impossible & typing is rather awkward without being able to move my wrist (thanks a lot since I'm trying to work on a project!), working is awkward, etc. At this point we are keeping a steady dose of ibuprofirin in my system, icing the wrist, & I have to wear a brace whenever I am not at work..even when sleeping. If that isn't enough I will have to start wearing it even at work too...that would be really fun to try! And, of course, there are two co-workers on vacation AT THE SAME TIME, so I have to help cover for them every day. ~sigh~ If none of this makes a significant change in a month or so we'll have to look into cortisone shots. Joy.
My most recent anxiety though is in regards to my pet mouse, Axel. For the past couple of nights he has had a nightly "visitor"...another male mouse (a wild field mouse that got in the house) that fights with him through the bars of his cage. He has been chewed up fairly bad (though he has also held his own very valiantly ) & is very anxious now. So much so that he is getting sick from it. The house is absolutely riddled with traps in hopes that we catch the little terrorist (& he had better HOPE that the trap finishes him before I get to him ) & I have been racking my brain on figuring out how to protect Axel & make him feel safe again. Not very easy when we are talking about a mouse which can fit through damn near anything in order to get to Axel. I bought a large "under-the bed" storage tub today to place his cage in at night so the little...mouse cannot climb up to his cage from the bottom. I will also be draping a lace curtain over his cage, which is 3 levels high, & tucking that under the tub to try & protect the higher levels of the cage. (I used a lace curtain because I want it to "breathe" & when I tried a blanket he pulled it through the bars & started chewing on it. LOL! Hopefully that will work until we catch the little....mouse.
So that's why I haven't been around quite as much lately...tired from working, wrist hurting, & heart hurting from not being able to protect & comfort my baby.
Sincerely,
Laurasia
