This was something someone shared with me recently. I have to admit I had not even heard of this part of WW2 history when I read it, but after reading this I was shocked it isn't something we learn about as much. (At least...not at any of the schools I went to...)Warning, content is disturbing!JAPANESE OCCUPATION OF CHINA AND THE RAPE OF NANKING
In college I was learning Japanese and someone who had studied there was back at our college finishing up his degree, so he agreed to come speak to our class about his experiences as an exchange student in Japan.
The thing I remember from it is his description of the Hiroshima memorial that he went to. He described it as one of those life changing events where you can no longer see the world and the people in it the same way. After reading this article, I started thinking about how true this is and how all of us here were touched by a traumatic event and how we now carry its memories. It's awful how many things like this have happened in the world.
It's awful how little thought I've even given to the others who have suffered outside of mainstream European WW2 history as well.

Hi Iseke.
Thank you for bringing this up. Indeed Europe was not the only place affected by the atrocities of WWII & that should be remembered as well.
Sincerely, Laurasia
