To surround yourself with objects, music, film, etc., etc of a different era because it makes you feel more comfortable? Sometime I feel like it's still the forties, and my lifestyle doesn't exactly fight against that. Some might call me an extremist, like my friends who say my room looks that of a person's who died many years ago but their family decided not to touch or move anything.... minus the lack of dust. Aren't they sweet? Sometimes I feel like one of those lost spirits who haven't realized they've died and still go along with their daily routine... the only difference is I'm in another body.
Is doing this really unhealthy? Or is it okay, do you think? Everything seems like it was just yesterday, and it is really difficult to comprehend that it was all almost seventy years ago...
Thanks in advance, and I apologize if I've placed this thread in the wrong section of the forum.

Hi Rednight. While there are cases when someone can become absolutely obsessed with their former lifetime I don't think that is what you are describing here. My own space is rather "old-timey" looking in ways as well. You prefer decor/styles from the 30s & 40s....so what? Some people prefer decor from the 50s, 60s, 70s, or 80s as well. That doesn't mean that anything is wrong with them, it's just what they like. Same thing with you....& a lot of us as well. Sincerely, Laurasia

I think it's perfectly acceptable. There's a huge difference between resonating with a certain era and becoming completely unable to live in your present life. One does not indicate the other. For my own part, I'm too drawn to cheap Ikea furniture and awesome handheld electronics to say that I'm not a product of the current time, but all the same.
I love the late 1800s mining era and as chance would have it I've lived most of my life in or near old mining towns that have largely historical elements. I love them; I miss that period so much. And there's nothing wrong with that, nothing says you have to prefer your current life circumstances or decor!

If there is something wrong with it, then I must be the craziest person on the planet. haha. Laurasia can tell you that my bedroom is an eclectic emporium of different eras..everything from the 40's to ancient Greek inspired (from another past life). I believe that it is just the sum of who I am now, and it is very comfortable to me.

I love stuff from the 40's. When I was a kid, my mom got me shoes similar to the kind Bronia wore, and I wore them so much that they got holes in them, and then I asked for another pair, which I also wore so much they got holes in them. I like putting my hair up in the old styles, and I do wear vintage clothing from time to time. Nothing wrong with stuff like that--it's a part of who you are, but it is not the only part, it's a mix of all different parts, whether from past life influence or not.
