Hi Doctorwhat. Oh no, that's fine hon. That's why the site has edit buttons afterall. Now how did I miss the part about your great uncle being at Chelmno? If he was there at the very beginning of 1942 then he would have worked under Lange's command, as I wasn't placed in charge of Chelmno until the spring of that year. Given that I did run the place for 3/4 of that year he likely did work under me though. Do you have any pictures of him that you could PM to me by any chance? Seeing his face might help me to remember him. He was only there for a short time though, so it may not. Sincerely, Laurasia

Sincerely, Laurasia the only photo i had was the one my grandma sold to the collector. my uncle (mom's brother) is trying to find other photos of him, but isnt having luck. i've been looking on militaria sites that deal in photos or that let people post their own photos to try to find a photo of him, but i havent been able to i can post 2 photos of 2 guys who resemble him, but arent him. i'll pm you the photos of the 2 guys. i knew i shouldve "borrowed" the photo like i "borrowed" his pocketwatch

Hi Doctorwhat. Oh that's too bad! Hopefully someone will be able to find a photo of him for you somewhere. I'll have a look at the two photos that you sent me. Maybe, just maybe, they'll be able to spark something for me. Sincerely, Laurasia

Hi Doctorwhat. According to the Holocaust Research Project they have a picture of Johann Schwarzhuber on their site. It can be found on this page, he is about halfway down the page on the left. Is this your great-uncle or is the photo misidentified. (There is one that is misidentified as being Hans on plenty of websites around the web, so it's possible. ) Sincerely, Laurasia

that's Schwarzhuber. definitely not my great uncle. i actually bought this photo from the antique dealer in town. she said it was Ribbentrop, definitely not. so she sold it to me for $30 instead of $300-something. when my mom's bro goes to Germany he's gonna try to track down some of our family that's still over there so he can maybe get some photos of him. i still wish i wouldve "borrowed" the photo like i did the watch lol edit - changed "bough" to "bought"

Okay now I'm confused. I thought that Johann Schwarzhuber was your great uncle. What was your great uncles' name again? I've apparently been researching the wrong name! LOL!

lol no, he's not my great uncle. my great uncle's name was Anton Schenk, but he had changed it from Anton Friedrich Schenk Graf-Hoffmann. my uncle thinks he found a photo of him, he's gonna check and send a copy to me if it's him.
