There are certain people at work, that fit in no real category: ie not friends, more than just acquaintances, and not one of the pastlife colleagues. I tend to think of them as those who do confession, in my role as fake priest. Anyhow, one of these had this to say yesterday, when discussing a situation regarding relatives, not work: "you know, I'm starting to realize, perhaps the problem is my expectations. I expect a whole lot of stuff that doesn't happen or happen right or whatever. If I just sort of don't expect anything at all, it's a lot easier on my blood pressure." Well, hallelujah, nice to see you're paying attention, run with that idea for a while.

Hi McCoy Personal expectations certainly are very important for all of us, whether we realize it or not. Many emotions like anger, resentment, etc actually come from us not having realistic expectations. And by "realistic expectations" I mean not expecting what has proven to be the norm. If something generally always happens in one way & you consistently expect something different to occur, that is an unrealistic expectation. For example, say you have a co-worker that has virtually no understanding of, or concern for, what is tactful in a public workplace (okay, I admit that I'm taking this example from my own life LOL!) & they consistently act/say tacky things in a very loud & obnoxious manner that makes not only co-workers but clients uneasy &/or offended. If I were to go into work expected that she is not going to behave in such a way I would spend a great deal of time being angry & would probably hate going to work when I know that she's is going to be there. (Admittedly it would be nice for management to catch her & force her to modify her behavior but, like I said, I can't go into it expecting that. I can hope, but I can't expect or I'll just stress myself. ) Admittedly there are other areas in my life were I have a lot of trouble applying this knowledge & I really need to remember to do so. But that all comes back to my needing to learn the lesson of forgiveness in this lifetime, so I suppose that is why I have such a hard time remembering it in those situations...it wouldn't be such a challenge for me if I could simply remember that. LOL! Sincerely, Laurasia
