I've seen twice now, associations with Capricorn and the darkness (whether it be the subject of the shadow self, or whatever else there may be associated with the darkness).
I don't follow astrology, but where on earth did this Capricorn-Darkness union come from?
I tried to look it up but didn't get very far:
Capricorns are filled with the dark spirit of winter, but there is an innocence in that dark spirit, the innocence of a little plant or seed waiting for winter to pass by so the plant can grow. It isn’t the malivent darkness of the Scorpion, symbolic of decay: the Capricorn, who is ruled by Saturn, is a sign that is all about survival. In the Tarot the higher card of Capricorn is the Devil, and that is a much misunderstood card in its symbolism.

Edit to add:
Capricorn is the 10th sign of the Astrological wheel and the last earth sign in it. One would say this would make it the most mature earth sign but it is not so: Capricorn is in fact the first of the Earth signs, because its the Cardinal sign of Earth, where Taurus is the Fixed sign and Virgo, the final (Mutable) sign. Because of this the Capricorn from this trio is Earth sign most pure to its Divine source. Capricorn is also one of the darkest signs out of the Zodiac because it is ruled by Saturn: it is the darkest period in Nature, midwinter, when the plant tries to survive underground and the light is in its dimmest season of the year.

While I understand what is said above regarding nature - I don't understand the other types of 'darkness' connections. Could someone please enlighten the dark one here...?
