I realized - through a dream - that I was a Finnish sailor during the 19th century. My name during that time was Jukka (Finnish version of Johann). I don't know what my last name was. I lived in Rauma, which is on the coast and I had served aboard fishing boats and later Cape Horn ships. I have been able to research this to an extent and there were several Cape Horn ships that I would have served on. Unfortunately - when I contacted the Rauma Maritime Museum - to get crew lists - there were none (this didn't surprise me)...so my research kind of dried up...

Hi Prien. Wow, so yeah the sea really seems to be in your blood, eh? A true sailor then. Did you ever consider joining the Navy in this lifetime? I ask because, like your recurrent theme, I've had a recurrent theme of being in the military in some capacity & I definitely had a VERY strong draw towards those things when I was younger because of it. Sincerely, Laurasia

That is really cool!
No records? At all? That is really weird. Maybe there is another resource for archives?

It's definitely frustrating when you can't find records, and do hope you'll be able to at some point.

Iseke and Pvt.Tucker: Yeah - I actually expected them to not have any crew lists because when I had contacted the German Deutschesschiffarhts Museum (sp) to get crew lists for the ships I served on in the 1920's - they had no crew lists...to it was an inevitable answer to me. I told them about the name Jukka, but the reply was that it is a very common Finnish name and without a birth date and last name it would be pretty hard - if not impossible - to get all the answers.
Laurasia: Oh I wouldn't be able to join because of the state of my health - I do hope to live near the sea (coast of Delaware - since that has historical connections to the U-Boats in both World Wars).
SweetLuna.: I don't know - there is a Finnish Maritime Museum, but they'd probably wind up referring me to the Rauma Maritime Museum. I was at least happy to find the names of some ships I may have been on.
I do remember being an officer and having died young though. The woman who was my half-sister during WWII, I feel was my wife during that lifetime - because we had a secret relationship during the WWII era, but when I got married I stopped...but she continued to live with my wife and I from what I could get as far as the letters I came across in Hermann Historica auction site.

Do you know what years this took place during? Like what years Jukka was born/died?

No unfortunately I don't - I can only go with the time period that fit in with the Cape Horn ships that Rauma had.
In my site I listed several - this is quoted from my site:
I found 9 ships that were kept in Rauma during the late 1890's that I would have possibly served on. They were: Harbinger (iron full rigger - 1898), Cuthona (iron full rigger - 1897), Favell (steel barque - 1897), Yarkland (iron full rigger - 1897), Westbury (iron bark - 1896), Goodrich (4 mast steel bark - 1895), and Winefred (iron full rigger - 1894).

Found some more of my name as it wasn't just Jukka, I remembered there was a part that started with 'P' and was either 'Pe...' or 'Pi...' - Jukka-Pekka (you can hear it on this site: www.sci.fi/~kajun/finns/male.htm)Pekka means rock/stone I also found this awhile ago on a site that has vintage style posters - www.cometofinland.fi/eng/bigshop

I am happy for you that you received some more information on this life. That is such a pretty poster too!

Yes - I guess it's been rather interesting. What I'd like to know is why I went to Finland back then - I have seen postcards that were auctioned off by Hermann Historica that shows I was in Finland...but I can't really get the 'post mark' dates. The one all the way on the left side - upper part - shows that my mother still lived in Lubeck, so this was during my childhood when I would have went up there.

I had a rather vivid dream of whale hunting and I think it was associated with this time. There were two distinct parts - in the first part I was looking out on the sea. It was sunny and I was with other men. I had my shirt sleeves rolled up as I enjoyed the cooler weather. My shirt was a red check or red plaid shirt. I saw this whale leap out of the sea and at first I was afraid due to the sheer size of the creature, but that quickly gave way to a sense of awe over it. In the next part, I was ready to harpoon it - I had the spear/shaft in my left hand and the metal point wasn't much different from this one below (dated 1800's - American): *I had thought that it may have been a 'symbolic dream' after doing some research on the symbol of whales in dreams, - and knowing enough about the connections with the sea and the subconsciousness...but this was too 'real' to fit in that category.

I've decided to blog this: reiseseemannreise.blogspot.com/(This is open to public viewing) Edit to add: I have also felt a strong 'pull towards' Helsinki even having a dream of visiting there...as I had my suitcase with me (the one I have now). Therefore I feel that I wasn't born in Rauma, but Helsinki rather.

31 March 2011: I had a reading that confirmed some of what I had felt about myself (that of having been a captain of a Cape Horn ship). There were many things that I had not remembered - and that was of how I died.
I had died of stress (exacerbation) of a heart problem I had back then while out at sea. There was a storm and much stress caused because of this. I was seen being in the saloon holding my chest due to pain. I later felt ok and went to lay down and had died in my sleep. I was in my 40s - 50s.
--------
I'm currently trying to research more...
