I saw some very graphic pictures today of some concentration camps in Germany during the Third Reich. These graphic images turned my stomach, the prisoners were dead, naked, and being thrown into a trench. This makes me feel so awful. I was only a girl in that time working in BDM, putting on puppet shows for the troops, about as far removed from this horror as can be, and yet it was so close to home, yet I knew nothing about these camps. I think that this was a terrible dark time in German history, and I want to say that as a former citizen of the Reich I am deeply sorry for all this suffering. I know that I never inflicted pain on anyone, nor would I ever. Most of the citizens of the Reich were so deluded by the Nazi party. Let's hope and pray that history never repeats itself, and we can learn and heal from this dark time.

Hi Gumby.
Indeed, the camps were awful. I don't even know if there is a word to describe them besides "hell". Unfortunately, the majority of my own memories from WWII are filled with just such images as you've described above.
What we perpetrated upon our perceived enemies was terrible indeed & keeping the memory of what truly did occur alive & no longer a "secret" is exactly why we are all here on this forum now. So the truth will be known, we can heal from & discuss what we went through & therefore (hopefully) see that it never happens again.
Sincerely, Laurasia

It must never happen again. And I tell all my American friends to keep an eye on the Patriot Act. I am serious here. Then we may help ensure it doesn't. Because karmically the US is more connected to the Reich in terms of the amount of Nazi personnel, and SS in particular, who went there after the war that there are possible karmic reflections being played out.
We all also need the UN to enact laws that protect against genocide. And for nation states to make policy that does not allow mass starvation and wars for oil.
I totally agree it must never happen again, but as citizens we can all play a part in that by becoming informed and active citizens who lobby where necessary to ensure a better future than the past.
