I've wondered...what do folks miss and not miss? For me, my 'I miss' list would be: my first wife, daughters from my second marriage, having my command and doing what I loved (sailing/being out at sea), I also miss the fashions, music, movies and arts of the time (this would include the designs of cars too). I also miss the 'civility' from back then - that sense of 'respect'...that seems to be so lacking these days. I miss the frequent interaction with 'humans' and not 'phone trees' and the internet (ex: MySpace, Facebook, etc.) What I don't miss: the war. ;D Since I wasn't really exposed to 'party politics' I can't say too much there, but I don't miss any of that (whatever I would have been exposed to).

Re Iseke - I drink 'Kombucha'! I love the stuff actually. My favorite is GT's 'Multi-Green'. It tastes like beer and bread (without the taste of the alcohol). There is another flavor they have - one with Cranberry juice in it, I like that one too. I had recently tried Absinthe during visiting over Christmas. That stuff was too strong for me - I'll stick to my wine thanks! But the brand was made in my state (PA) - of course no 'hallucinogenic' in it either. If people like the taste of anise (not a taste I'm crazy about) then they should try that. Re McCoy - I understand what you're saying in a sense, but for me I incorporate the past into now by living a vintage/retro life. So there is the good without the bad. I wasn't reincarnated by birth so this factors strongly into the way I live my life.

I agree - there is an immense range of choices, and I think that's what makes it so fun! Taking what you said, it can also be applied to some of the spiritual healing therapies - back then when essences first came out there were only the 38 ones that Bach developed in the '20s - 30's...now there is such a vast array from different plant species to use. Same with crystals, if one goes to mindat.org, one can find when a mineral was found. A number of the ones used in crystal healing weren't found until 'post-war' - Gaspeite (one of my favorites) is one of them. It seems like the thing for the '21st' century is that there are things from all eras cropping up - there's the clothing from the 80's making a come-back, the bell-bottoms of the 60's-70's. Here is a site on 'Retro Housewives' even: www.retro-housewife.com/ For women who enjoy the 'traditional role' of women in society.

My favorite is GT's Trilogy and I think there's a ginger one I like as well.
And I've tried absinthe once, the US legal kind (I think they recently re-legalized the regular kind though, didn't they? Heard that somewhere...) and I loved it. I do love the flavor of anise though! Also fond of jager and other licorice flavored things.
Re: the general topic: I think the range of choice is one of my favorite things about living now. I really have no idea what it felt like to live "back then" (except it probably didn't feel limiting as it would from my perspective now!) but I enjoy having the freedom to explore so many things.
The music is something I love more now. Actually, in my past life I loved klezmer and discovering it in this life was awesome. I really cringe hearing pop-music from the 20s-30s (ok, of any era really!) but I love some of the same type of stuff I listened to back then.

Yep - Love Kombucha ;D
Yeah see I don't care for the taste of anise or licorice - you have to enjoy that flavor. Me...I'll take a nice dry wine. ;D
I have to agree with having the freedom to explore different things. To an extent I don't mind the technology - I'd be screwed if it weren't for the internet with buying my health supplies (not to mention my tea ;D).
I take it you don't do Jazz then? I love Django Reinhardt's music the best! For songs, French music...one name that comes to mind - Josephine Baker.

Oh my goodness! What do I miss? Pretty much everything that Prien mentioned, minus the U-Boat stuff. LOL! My Anna (though I have her again now in her current incanration), the music, the styles, the "civility" - as Prien mentioned, the structure, the power, the money, etc.
What I don't miss....the war, my superiors deciding my life, the hatred, etc.
Sincerely, Laurasia

Now to support Communism in any fashion is roughly akin to digging your own grave in Siberia, it attracted a certain self destructive type. Hey, now, lay off. My Jacob was a Communist then, and he wasn't self destructive. Watch your words before making such sweeping generalizations. I also once wrote something about Rivkah (my sister) being a Zionist for teh lulz in a story once, but I think there may have been a grain of truth to it. Now, she may have been a bossy person, but she was in no way dogmatic. Another generalization. =/ What I miss: --The clothes. I rather liked the clothes then, or rather I envied Rivkah's sailor suit dress. ...I can't remember what else because Rane is distracting me now. What I don't miss: --War --I rather like my internetz, thank you. That's how I found Jacob this time around, as my Rane.

I miss being a man. Seriously. I love my life now as a woman and have no regrets on that score but I do miss being a guy sometimes. I miss being tall too. Am I allowed to say I miss my uniform sometimes? Not the SD one, arh! But my first SS one was kind of cool and I still do wear all black with a long black coat and black riding boots alot, all my friends complain that I should brighten up my wardrobe. I miss the fact that time didn't seem to whiz so much back then, in particular before the war started. And I miss that sense of hopefulness for the future. I think the choice we have now is great, although I also fear that stuff may change. It's great being alive now and enjoying everything and I really value it and am very thankful, especially as maybe it'll be gone someday. I do not miss Hitler's rantings. I so do not miss them.... Blessings to all of you x

Re SSKarma: Some folks choose to go through SRS (sex reassignment surgeries) and hormones because they are transgendered. But this isn't really a 'spiritual' condition, it is a neuro-biological medical condition. If one reads about human development in the womb - human bodies do have both male and female organs at a certain point in time. It isn't so 'clear cut' as a case of X and Y genes. There is much that goes on while the human body is developing on a biological level.
As far as the uniform is concerned - it's been the general consensus that the Germans had the most stylish looking uniforms of all the countries that served. It was the way they were cut and tailored. I've seen this sort of subject come up in vintage/retro living forums as well as within reenacting communities - so there isn't anything wrong in my view to you liking your uniform.
Like you I miss that 'time not flying by' - particularly in the 1920's - 30's for me. I can't say anything about hopefulness though for me. I felt most hopeful when I was with the woman who was my first wife. Why? I don't know...
What do you mean by you fearing stuff may change? In what way and what stuff?
As for Hitler's rantings...I didn't really listen to them then, and I can't stand to hear them now. Give me the sounds of the sea and I'm like a pig in poo. ;D

Hi SSKarma. ABSOLUTELY! I miss my old uniform BAD. LOL! (And I also favor the black SS uniform, though I ADORE the grey Great Coat from my officer's unform. ) I don't really associate being a man with Hans' lifetime (as I was a man in the vast majority of my previous lives), but I do miss that as well. It isn't as bad for me the older that I get (I used to have gender issues when I was younger). Sincerely, Laurasia

From what I know the black uniform was the parade uniform, but they stopped using that around '39-40 I think. I don't study the SS (any branch - W-SS or Allgemeine SS) but there were SS who were my chauffers when my crew was being driven through Berlin after the Scapa Flow raid (Oct. '39) and they were wearing the feldgrau uniforms.
